Images

The way we choose to describe roles in pictures is very interesting. As a simple experiment, I searched Google images for “leader.”  Here are a few of the images that came up (some multiple times):

Here the leader is portrayed as the center of the organization

Here the leader is portrayed in the traditional hierarchical model, with no direct connection with most of his/her subordinates.

The winding path is interesting here, and much more realistic than traditional linear models (literally and visually!)

I find this image to be the most thought-provoking. The images of the subordinates carrying the leader as he points the way on a platform that by it’s own is pointing, hmm….
